The Russian defence ministry said early on Monday its forces had repelled an attack by Ukraine and destroyed 16 tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles and 21 armoured combat vehicles. In a statement, the ministry said Ukraine (inset, President Zelensky) had launched the offensive on Sunday, June 4, using six mechanised and two tank battalions. It said: 'The enemy's goal was to break through our defences in the most vulnerable, in its opinion, sector of the front. The enemy did not achieve its tasks, it had no success.' It came after Kyiv pleaded for operational silence around the long-awaited counter-offensive on Sunday. In a sleekly-produced video, heavily-armed soldiers were seen pressing their fingers to their lips (bottom) amid the distant rumble of artillery and gunfire (top). #success #after #video #goal #most #for #the
